Supervisory Experience

The Supervisor, Public Safety is responsible for planning, leading, organizing, controlling and coordinating the security shift. The incumbent is responsible for direct supervision of a team comprised of a lead security officer, K-9 officer, public safety officers, dispatchers, valets, and a maintenance technician. The amount of employees supervised is directly related to which shift is being supervised. The security of the entire medical center per shift is the incumbent's overall responsibility. Parking needs of the medical center are also the incumbent's responsibility per shift. 3 to 5 years of experience in hospital based security is required. The incumbent should have previous law enforcement experience or an extensive military background. The incumbent must be knowledgeable in the area of weapons, security, law enforcement, penal code, and arrest techniques. The incumbent must have sufficient expertise and knowledge in the area of hospital based security in order to provide the necessary supervisory capabilities within the hospital based environment and to be an effective leader. Must have a valid California drivers license and a current American Heart Association Basic Life Support (BLS) certification. Must also have a valid state guard card, valid baton permit, and a valid permit to carry pepper spray.
