The role of Supervisor, Clinical Respiratory is to provide leadership to unit-based Respiratory Care Practitioners in specified locations during the course of their shift. The Supervisor is responsible for supervising the organization and coordination of unit-based staffing with competent respiratory care practitioners and for assigning procedures and other work. The Supervisor will work independently and reports to the department manager. The job of Supervisor is a working position responsible for ensuring that all patient care orders are completed, and patient safety is assured. This position requires the full understanding of, and active participation in, fulfilling the mission of Long Beach Memorial Medical Center and Miller Children's Hospital. It is expected that the employee demonstrate behavior consistent with our core values. This position reports to the Manager for Respiratory Care Services, who has the responsibilities to plan, organize, manage and develop therapeutic and diagnostic respiratory services at LBMMC and MCH to achieve service and financial goals, both at the department level and in conjunction with the goals of the medical centers. A minimum of 3 years of acute care experience in Adult/Neonatal/Critical Care is required. In lieu of this experience, consideration will be made for an applicant with strong education and associated experiential background. Must be a graduate of an AMA accredited School for Respiratory Care or equivalent. A current California RCP license is required. A current American Heart Association Basic Cardiac Life Support (BCLS) certification is also required. An RRT (Registered Respiratory Therapist) actively pursuing is preferred. American Heart Association Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS), Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) and NRP certifications are preferred. * This position will work primarily, but not exclusively, in the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit in Miller Children's Hospital on behalf of Respiratory Care Services.
